The SIBERIAN is a natural breed.   They are a large, strong, affectionate, loyal, healthy cat with no known genetic problems.

 

Owning a Siberian is a pleasure!  The Siberian will become your best buddy, your confidante, and your clown.  They are an ancient breed and began as the Russian forest cat.  They are first mentioned in recorded history in the year 1000. They are still roaming the Siberian forests today, but are also prized house cats in Russia.   The first importing of Siberians to the United States was in 1990.

 

   These cats are very personable and want to be with their owner, helping with everything.   Their voices are sweet and melodic, sometimes trills, mews and chirps.  They are acrobats, performing amazing somersaults in their play.  They love to be on high and are sure to be seen sailing overhead from one high perch to another.  They love toys of all kinds,  and are fast learners!   They provide first class entertainment for their family.

 

   The Siberians are hypoallergenic for many allergy sufferers.  This is not a proven medical fact, but there are many people who consider themselves living proof.  They have a low occurrence of an enzyme in the saliva to which many allergy sufferers are sensitive.   When a cat licks its fur, the saliva dries and falls off as dander.  This is what causes the allergies for many people, so they find they can be around Siberians with little or no reaction.

 

   The Siberians are a medium large cat with the appearance of strength, fitness and power;  they have an alert expression which is also sweet.   They come in a rainbow of colors, including points. Their coats are full and their tails are bushy and carried on high.
